Oh, Dolls, I have a little side project! I’ve been scouring eBay for the perfect bat wing cocoon cardigan. Most of the time I have an idea in my head of what I want and I won’t be happy until I find it. Well, I never found one, so I had it made!!! I loved it soooo much I had to have a couple more made for my girls. Check out my eBay if your interested!!!
I styled it with the ribcage Rodarte for Target dress, an Alice + Olivia belt, and a Kenneth Jay Lane Squid Ring.

I tend to have problems with wearing gold clothing. I just don’t know how to handle it, and in the wrong hands it can look tacky and cheap.
Please see Exhibit A:
I must also mention my fear of gold purses. It all began back in the 80s, when I would be forced to stay with my country grandparents. You know what I’m talking about… ones that enjoy things like polka music, square dancing, and dominos.
Anywoooo, I still remember the gold mesh purse my grandmother would carry. She would wear head-to-toe denim with matching gold accents and carry her gold mesh purse. To this day I’m afraid of the gold mesh purse. I was only about 7 at the time and I knew it was wrong. It made sounds that a handbag just shouldn’t make! I was always concerned that we were being followed through Walmart by a medieval knight. Chang, chang, chang, with every step taken. It looked very similar to this one below, but hers was all gold.

Aaaah!
Through my therapist and psychiatric meds –JK– I have managed to find a couple of gold outfits that I actually really do like. I’m going to continue working on my gold phobia since I don’t see this trend going away anytime soon. After all, admitting you have a problem is the first step!

Since this is the season of recycled trends, let’s cover the following: DISCO.
If we’re going to accept the leggings trend, we might as well embrace disco. Sooo, let’s begin with the positive qualities of disco! Now, what are the positive qualities you ask? I have no idea but I will say that the carefree attitude of that decade is a start. Let’s bring back the debaucheries of Studio 54’s past!
Think champagne, fluid fabrics, and sequins… I think I can get into this look!
*Disclaimer – please only wear this trend at night — the last thing you need is HR sending you home because you look like a tramp… a stylish tramp, that is!
Silence and Noise (under $100!)

I L-O-V-E Lady GaGa — I really do!!! Everyone thinks she a weirdo, but I think she is the new and improved Madonna. But here’s the problem: Lady GaGa doesn’t wear pants… ever. Now, I’m all for new and fun trends but this is one trend I’m not OK with. I remember bodysuits! Back in the day, I had a grey DKNY mock turtleneck bodysuit that I wore with jeans. I HATED that thing! It felt like I was wearing a cross between a diaper and a thong, and it drove me batty all day long. But I at least I looked good! So here we go again with the bodysuits… but I must admit I’m completely in love with Agent Provocateur’s Iona Body. It reminds me of the show Mad Men, and I just want to put it on with a big skirt and have a martini and a ciggie just like Betty Draper.

OK I don’t remember because I was just an innocent child at the time… ummm, innocent may not be the right word. I can still remember my family gathering around the TV to watch Dallas and the fateful day that JR got shot. I was working my usual 7 to 9 shift as the family bartender. Yes, I was only 4 at the time but I took my job very seriously. I would ride my plastic horse from chair to chair taking down the drink orders and just joking around with the customers trying to keep up the jovial spirit of the evening. Now, I must be honest and let you know that the drinks were just water that I “mixed” using different decanters to create that perfect drink. For some reason I was memorized by the large wooden bar which happened to be in the den where all the TV-watching took place. Thinking back on that, it explains sooooo much…
But I digress, this post is really supposed to be about the Donna Karan “Cold Shoulder” dress which happens to remind me of the good ol’ Dallas days. I believe if Sue Ellen was around today she would be strolling around the Southfork Ranch in this fabulous gown. I also happen to think I would look fabulous in it as well, perhaps behind the bar serving my specialty “water on the rocks” with a paper umbrella for a touch of ambiance.

(I wasn’t quite alive at the time, but I DO remember the fam watching Dallas and I was an excellent bartender!)
