Prada, Texas
I must say the set designers who work on Gossip Girl are amazing. I love to watch the show more than once to catch their eye for detail. And being a Texas girl myself, I happen to love the Prada Marfa painting at the Bass-Humphrey residence.
Oooh, wouldn’t you just die for this apartment!!!
Most people don’t know the story behind this fabulous Prada sign. There is a tiny town in southwest Texas called Marfa, population 2,000. Marfa is known for being where the films No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood were shot.
When most people think of Prada, they don’t think of west Texas, until they see this:
Imagine… you’re driving down a dusty desert highway, and in front of you, you see a mirage. Even better than a desert oasis, it’s a magical Prada store that seems to be open just for you!
The “store” is a permanent art installation designed and built by Scandinavian artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset in 2005. The shoes and bags are actual Prada items from the Fall 2005 collection. FYI, this installation is under video surveillance, so try to fight the urge to break in!
But the good news is you CAN purchase the Prada Marfa sign through the Art Production Fund.

Rainy Day Women
I love a good stormy rainy day! I put on some jazz, open a bottle of red, and veg. I guess I’m what you call an old soul. Rainy weather also brings out new fashion items, like a fabulous trench and a great pair of rain boots. Right now there are so many to choose from!!!

The gilded age
I tend to have problems with wearing gold clothing. I just don’t know how to handle it, and in the wrong hands it can look tacky and cheap.

I must also mention my fear of gold purses. It all began back in the 80s, when I would be forced to stay with my country grandparents. You know what I’m talking about… ones that enjoy things like polka music, square dancing, and dominos.
Anywoooo, I still remember the gold mesh purse my grandmother would carry. She would wear head-to-toe denim with matching gold accents and carry her gold mesh purse. To this day I’m afraid of the gold mesh purse. I was only about 7 at the time and I knew it was wrong. It made sounds that a handbag just shouldn’t make! I was always concerned that we were being followed through Walmart by a medieval knight. Chang, chang, chang, with every step taken. It looked very similar to this one below, but hers was all gold.

Through my therapist and psychiatric meds –JK– I have managed to find a couple of gold outfits that I actually really do like. I’m going to continue working on my gold phobia since I don’t see this trend going away anytime soon. After all, admitting you have a problem is the first step!

Since this is the season of recycled trends, let’s cover the following: DISCO.
If we’re going to accept the leggings trend, we might as well embrace disco. Sooo, let’s begin with the positive qualities of disco! Now, what are the positive qualities you ask? I have no idea but I will say that the carefree attitude of that decade is a start. Let’s bring back the debaucheries of Studio 54’s past!
Think champagne, fluid fabrics, and sequins… I think I can get into this look!

Please give a big hug to any veterans you know, because today is Veteran’s Day! And you might just give a hug to some you don’t know — I’m sure they’ll enjoy it 
In celebration of this special day, today’s post with be focused on the fashionable military-inspired jacket!
I have always loved the military jacket. I still remember way back in the mid-90s there was a DKNY military jacket that I ALMOST talked my Mom into buying. I still remember the dark burgundy wool fabric with black and white piping. Oooh, I wanted it so, but she wasn’t too keen spending $300 on a 13-year-old. But to this day I still lust for that jacket, and thankfully there are plenty of options to choose from this season!
